The Surgery

Mom will be having surgery on Aug. 4 at 7:30 am (Central, USA). (That's Thursday of next week.) I will be hosting a purr-in for anyone wanting to come and purr for mom. Since mom has to start early, any cat/dog/bun/rabbie/human (etc) that wants to teleport the night before and sleepover is welcome. We will be serving anchovy, ham and catnip pizzas with catnip beer/tea to drink. She will first have foot surgery by the foot doctor, then when he is done, the wound doctor will step in and do surgery on mom's butt wound. This will still be outpatient. Mom will also get something called a pic line which is outpatient I.V. anti bio tics. She will have this for approximately 4-6 weeks. (Mom is VERY unhappy about the time frame.) The good news is this is hopefully the beginning of the end of having to deal with the wounds. Also, mom does not have to have the wound vac thing, or take anti bio tics, until after the surgery. So mom plans on getting the most of her freedom the next 9 days! Mom wants to thank everyone for the prayers, support, healing light and vibes, good karma, etc. coming our way. She really feels it and appreciates it. Thanks for caring!! Love, Beau

Foot Doctor appointment

Mom has now seen the foot doctor. He said that mom does need surgery to scrape off the infect shun off her bone. The good news, especially to me, is that she will be able to come home afterwards. I am very happy about this as it gets very lonely being alone here, and sleeping alone. We don't know yet when it will be, but we will let you know. Also, mom found out that her butt wound tested positive for a resistant infection, so once again her anti bio tic was changed. Mom is probably getting IV antibiotics as well. The up side is that mom was allowed to have 24 hours without the wound vac thing. Oh, and one thing we previously forgot to tell you is that on top of all mom has already gone through, the way mom's butt is bandaged only lets her get a real bath on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Mom is beyond upset about this, especially in 100 degree temperature. But, I try to help. I work on cleaning her when I can! (After all, who wants a stinky human!) OH! One more thing, foot doctor took off mom's toenail that was half off anyway so now she is dealing with 3 wounds, not 1 or 2. Thanks for all the continuing prayers, healing light, positive vibes, notes, calls, and support. It is DEEPLY appreciated. Love, Beau (and mom)

The Latest on Mom

Mom went to her doctor yesterday and got lots of not good news. Mom has a bone infect shun (called Osteo my light us). This is partly why mom's hurty foot has not yet healed. Mom was also told she is probably going to have to have surgery on her foot to clean out the infection. Mom has been taking anywhere from 1750-2000 mg of anti bio tics each day, and not only has it not killed all the infection, but it has made her real sick and feel bad. Plus, she may also have to have a tube put in her arm to get IV antibiotics. The up side to all this is that it should it should make her foot wound heal up fast!
But, mom has also had other complications happen besides feeling sick from anti bio tics. She had a (looks around....shhh) butt wound scar blow. It had fluid buildup and swelling in it twice lately, and Monday her doctor drained fluid out. It left a 2.5 cm deep wound. Soooo, mom is now dealing with 2 wounds, not 1. She has finished Hyperbaric Oxygen, but she still has the wound vac thingy. Home health people are also going to be coming again. Oh, and mom has been so stressed her heart keeps speeding up and also making her feel very bad.
I've been doing all I can to cheer mom up, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Mom is allll way depressed, frustrated, and stress. She sheds lots and lots of water. (New RB kitties hasn't helped.) We need lots and lots of prayers and get all your friends, and even their friends praying for mom to heal. I have been told that any furry or non furry that wants to come purr, woof, or whatever on mom will receive a free tummy rub, chin and ear scritches, and lots of extra snuggles. If mom does have surgery, I will be hosting a "Purr In."
We want to thank each and every one of you for your purrrs, prayers, healing light, healing mojo, notes of encouragement, and mostly your love and kindess. It is deeply, DEEPLY appreciated. You are family to us and we love you all very much! Love, Beau and Mom

Mom Update

I have another picture to show you, but I wanted to give you another update on mom. She has been having oxygen therapy treatments on her hurt foot. It is called hyperbaric oxygen therapy or HBOT for short. (Mom spelled it for me in case someone wants to inet search it.) She is put in a pressurized tube and given pure oxygen. Mom absolutely hates it. What is worse is that she has to do this every day Monday through Friday for 3 hours a day, for 6 WEEKS. She is having a very hard time dealing with this. She has had 2 weeks of this, so she is hopefully 1/3 through, but she still has 4 weeks to go...and that's IF her hurty foot heals in that time. All cats, woofies, buns, rabbies, and others are invilted to come anytime and purr, give binkies, or whatever your speciality is. Mom loves all animals and could very much use the furry (or not) love and distractions.

NOW, here is another picture of mine. Sorry, it's not actually me. I wanted to show you MY bookshelf! It is on the bottom shelf so it's easy for me to pull my books out and lay on the floor and read. I think it was very sweet of mom to do that for me! I am missing some books I want, but hopefully with time that shelf will be packed!

Wait and See Gathering and Story Telling

UPDATE: Mom does have a bone infection. Her doctor gave her some super duper heavy duty anti bio tics, and may give her foot oxygen therapy. The good news is that she still does not have that foot vacuum thingy back, she doesn't have to have surgery right now, and the wound was a tiny bit smaller. So, all in all it was good news! LET'S PARTY!!

Thank you all for coming today. It is most appreciated. It's nice to have company while one waits for the human to get test results. Snacks of cheese, turkey, ham, salmon, tuna, shrimp, and all varieties of Temptations are over on the table. In the kitchen are bottles of water, faucet water, catnip tea, and tuna juice. Milk is available for the kittens. There are also catnip cookies for the adults. If it is good news, we will have a celebration party! If it's not so good news, you are invited to nap pile my mom. She LOVES kitty love so I know it will make her feel better and cheer her up!
So, as promised I will tell you of the "Squirrel Event." Okay, so mom and I were getting ready to go out and leash walk. I just stepped out the door, and mom opened up the door more so she could get out. Well, just as she did a squirrel bolted past the door, and suddenly I was nose to nose with the squirrel. Mom was thinking, "Ooooh nooooo...." But, sadly I was so startled by the whole thing, I didn't know what to do. I certainly didn't want to traumatize mom by creating blood and gore right in front of her! So, the squirrel and I stared each other down for a few seconds then the squirrel jumped onto the brick ran across and then down to safety. I bolted right back into the house and refused to go back out. I was *NOT* a whus. I was protecting my mom from trauma, all the while practicing great restraint. This is what a mancat does at times! (This is my story and I'm sticking to it!)
Oh, and I NEED TO THANK MOM'S BUSY. Thanks to her my broked tie and other interchangeable ties is now fixed! WOOHOO!! Also, a special thanks to Katoro for my new catnip toy! It's pawsome! =happy happy joy joy dance= Here, let me show you...=pulls out fixed ties and new toy. See....the mouse looks like a giraffe and has a bushy squirrel tail! I call it a squir-gir-mouse! And listen (=rustles it), it's crinkly inside! Life is good! =^.^= Love, Beau

Taking Care of Mom

UPDATE: Mom had an emergency doctor appointment today (Tuesday) with her foot wound doctor. Her ankle hurt so bad she could not stand on it without severe pain. Her doctor determined she does have an infection in her foot, and he put her on anti bio tics. The scan Thursday morning will determine whether or not it's in mom's foot bone. Like I said, PLEASE pray that it is not because that would be a VERY bad thing! (Thanks!)

I haven't posted lately because I've been busy taking care of mom. She has been having some problems with a foot wound healing, and has also had a bad sigh nus infect shun. Thursday mom will have her foot bone scanned to make sure there is nothing bad in it. Mom needs lots of purrrs and prayers that nothing bad is found in the scan, and her sigh nuses get better. She will find out Monday of next week whether or not she has to have surgery on her foot, so also pray that she does NOT!
I have really wanted to post as I have LOTS to tell you about. As soon as things hopefully get better here I will post MY news. Look forward to hearing about my close encounter with a squirrel! Love, Beau

Trouble - I Need Helps

Mom broked my blue checked bow tie and now I can't wear it. I am not happy with mom. I need my tie fixed. The stretchy blue string that held it all together broked. Mom tried and cannot fix it. Also, I was sent a gift of a interchangeable bow tie collar thingy, with 2 bow ties. The collar thing that came with 2 bow ties is too wide, and one bow tie won't fit on it. I need a human who can fix both my broked blue check bow tie and fix my gift. If you have a human that can sew and or has a sew machine, and is willing to help poor me, please send me a message and or leave me a comment. Love, a very sad Beau.

Blood Test Results

I am happy and mad all at the same time. I am soooo very happy about my results. My blood tests results were PERFECT. My iron level was in the center of normal, which is PERFECTly normal! And, my blood cell things that indicate heading toward hyper-thyroidism were fine! There is nothing wrong with me at all, except that I'm normally aging and evidently losing muscle mass. (Sorry ladies!) For the record, I have absolutely NO intention of going anywhere for at least another 10 years! ( =^;^=) Mom was so excited she acted the fool, which, btw, is nothing unusal...MOL!! Mom was so excited she thought I deserved a celebration treat so, when she went to PetSmart, she bought me a can of Blue Buffalo chicken stinky goodness! I was so excited I got twitchy, but in perfect cat snarkiness I only hate a few bites and then turned up my nose at it. Hey, if I'm going to get the primo high-octane stuff I might as well make it last!
Now, for the flip side, I am very angry at mom for putting me through all this. I TOLD her I was fine and nothing was wrong with me. But, did she listen, NOOOOO. She put me through being put in my PTU, going out in the cool, damp air; riding in the big metal rolling machine, dealing with seeing a bunch of freaked out woofies and another cat, seeing an almost dead dog brought in (traumatic), then having to breath funny, sleepy stuff, getting poked, prodded, and stuck, blood stolen, having a picture of my insides taken (invading my privacy), and then everything in reverse. Also, because we had to wait to see the vet who was running very late, I was stuck in the PTU for what seemed like FOR-EV-ER. Mom kept reaching in and loved on me, but I finally moved in my ptu to where I had my back to her, and it wasn't so she could rub it either! I was so very glad to get home and be in my own space again! And, mom said she will now try to relax and not worry so much about me. We'll see......! Love, Beau

Beau's Vet Appointment

We are home from the vet. The most important part, the blood tests results will not be in until tomorrow. However, nothing bad could be seen on the x-ray, and nothing bad was felt during the physical. The v-e-t said,, that despite him looking thinner, Beau has gained a little weight. He now weights 12.2 pounds. So, we no wait for blood tests results to find out if it shows hyperthyroidism, dehydration, or anything else. But, so far things look good!

Vet Appt

Dear Friends,
I have a v-e-t appointment on Tuesday at 12:00 noon (CT). They are going to steal my blood again. Mom thinks I have had some signifcant physical changes in the last 9 months and, with me being a senior mancat, feels it would be good to find out whether or not something is going on, besides aging. We decided not to go into specifics until after my appointment. We will update you with everything then. Love, Beau

** PLEASE REMEMBER TO BID ON ITEMS FOR SHELL (OR JUST CHIPIN). **
She has so much to live for, and we can make that happen!!

Crazed Mom

Mom's been very busy making something called "functional art." I'm not sure what that is but mom realllly likes something called a "glue gun." Supposedly this kind of gun is legal and safe. However, I'm not sure about the safe part. It shoots out hot, sticky glue liquid and the first time mom used this "glue gun" it hurt mom's arm. =looks around= (Between you and me the gun was mean, but I'm not sure mom knew what she was doing. But, since then there's definitely been a positive learning curve! =snicker=) Frankly, I think mom is losing her mind (more than she already has). She rotates between scraping off paper from the bathroom wall, gluing corks together in a tray making something called a "cork bored," gluing magnet things to backs of old broken jewelry, painting and gluing things onto wood frames, etc. Of course, I make sure that mom breaks for meals, giving me attention, feeding me, giving me fresh water, cleaning my litterbox, giving me more attention, giving me treats, and giving me more attention. Of course, I also make sure she takes times time for personal grooming and hygiene because, after all, who wants a tummy rub by a stinky, dirty human? Taking care of mom requires lots of attention and can be very tiring! I take lots of naps. I wuvs you all! Take care! Love, Beau

Tuxie Ties

Mom has been looking for more new times for me. Not only has mom found some more bow ties, which she will eventually purchase, but she also found some business ties. This might be good to wear during the week! I am very excited about getting more times and trying the new ties. I do think it's important to look my best at all times! Many cats have asked me about my ties and where I found them. So, for those interested in getting ties, I am providing links to some sites. My checked ties came from PetSmart, and unfortunately they no longer carry them. My solid red, solid black, leopard print, and Christmas plaid ties come from this site:

http://store.dapperdog.com/.
(Yes, it says dog in the link, but it also is a cat site. We think the company originally started with dogs because they wear more.)

Mom found these 2 sites last night. They look promising, but we have yet to find out for sure:

http://www.sassypup.net/Dog-Neckties-Plaid-Set-3-Fun-Ties-Plaid-and-Solid-Black-p-17925.html
(these are the business ties)
http://alittleunique.com/bowties.php
(states grosgrain shirt material bow ties...plan to get additional info regarding this site.)

All 3 links have ties for both cats and dogs, males and females. We hope this helps and you find something you like!

Let us hear YOUR opinions on these sites, and if you find others you like, let us know! Love, Beau

A Problem Fixed

Dear Friends, it came to my attention late last night that there was a problem with my follow feed. After intensive research I discovered the problem and believe I have fixed it! If you have any more problems please let us know. Both this blog and Beau's Sunday Sermons are set for follow feeds.
We hope you had happy holidays and will have a blessed new year! Santa Claws brought me TWO bag of dental Temptations! WOOHOO! Oh, and I got LOTS of crinkly papers to bat around and play with too! We are doing fine...trying to stay in and stay warm. Sunday night through sometime tomorrow we are to get a total of 2 to 4 inches of snow! I bolted out one day during the last snow, and didn't realize in time there was snow out our door. My poor toesies got wet and VERY cold. You should have seen me tip toeing quicky across. MOL! I felt kind of stupid. I've been enjoying our snowier winter this year. It has meant mom staying home, and in, more, which means more snuggle and play time with her. I love that! She has been putting on some wet stuff to keep her skin from drying out and it makes her smell so good I want to eat her! (BTW, I hate to tell her at her age not drying out can be a lost cause! =snork=) We love you all! Take care! Beau

Twas the Night Before Christmas (Cat Version)

''Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring except the cat chasing a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that Santa Claws would soon would be there; The kittens were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of catnip danced in their heads; And momma in her perch and I in a lap, Had just settled down for a long winter's nap, When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I lept like a flash, Swatted open the shutters and bent up the sash. The moon glistening on the new-fallen snow gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below, When, what to my curious eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer, With a little old feline driving lively and fast I knew in a moment it was Santa at last. More rapid than cats his reindeer they came, And he mrowred, and mewed, and called them by name; "Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!" As dry leaves that before lain around dry. When they meet with an obstacle, lept to the sky, So up to the house-top the reindeers they flew, With the sleigh full of toys, and Santa Claws too. And then, in a ear twitch, I heard on the roof The clawing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my paw, and was turning around, Down the chimney Santa Claws came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, And his fur was all dirty with ashes and soot; A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack. His eyes -- how they twinkled! his whiskers how merry! His ears were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His cute little mouth was shaped like a bow, the fur on his chin was as white as the snow; The stump of a feather pole he held tight in his teeth, feathers flew around his head like a wreath; He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook, when he purred like a bowlful of jelly. He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old cat, And I laughed when I saw him, wearing a hat; A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me an idea he hadn’t been fed; He spoke not a word, but went straight to his job, And filled all the stockings; then turned with a bob, And laying his paw next to his nose, giving a nod, up the chimney he rose; He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a hiss, And away they all flew too quickly I sensed. But I heard him meow, as he lept out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

It's My BIRTHDAY!!!!

Today I'm 11....on 11/1. How cool is that!! Today I'm hoping that all my friends donate at LEAST one bag of food to a local shelter/rescue; the humans wear black and white for all the pets that have touched their lives and or blessed them, in memory of all those who've gone to The Bridge, and to remember all the lost and or homeless animals. AND, to take a moment to say a prayer for all the lost and homeless animals. I would like to share a few thoughts. I am still very active and curious. I take care of myself for the most part, and enjoy bird watching and sun spots still. I play with mom often. I get plenty of rest. To the elder cats, I would like to say take care of yourself, stay active and curious...and when the time comes to go to The Bridge, do not stay just for your humans. They will be okay. Mom says they will be sad for a while, then they will be okay...and the best thing you can do for them is to do what you need to do for yourself. Stay if you have more living to do, but go if you're ready...staying just for them only makes it harder for them. To the young, play hard, be curious, learn lots, learn healthy habits, and make forever friends. All this will carry you far in life! To all I say appreciate everything good in your life, treasure every moment, love, laugh, and play hard, nap often, take care of yourself, and above all love God and do what you need to do for YOU. Life is short...eat more treats!! Love, Beau

Answers to Questions

We have been getting lots of questions...about my eating shrimp, and about how mom and her itchy places are doing. So, we thought the easiest thing to do was to just post the answers all in one post...and if you think of any other questions, just put them in the comments of this post, and we will add the answer here. BTW, I don't know why people ask about mom because we all know us cats are way more interesting than our humans! Anyway, about eating shrimp, I guess I liked it okay, but not as much as Max and some others like it. I think I still prefer chicken or turkey. It was cooked by Captain D, not the dried stuff (ech!). It was suggested that I try the tiny canned stuff. Mom has offered those to me before and I wasn't interested, but maybe I might think about it next time. Mom was very hesitant about letting me try shrimp for a long time because she read some cats are 'lergic to them and she didn't want to take the chance...but over time she has learned I am very good at knowing what is okay for me to eat, and what I can't, so she let me make the choice. As for mom, she still keeps getting some itchy bite bumps, but not so much now. She stopped counting them when it got to be about 135 bites total. (Not a typo.) She has now had 3 rounds of shots, which included a tet a nuts shot, and 3 1/2 rounds of pre script shuns. (Round 1/2 gave mom hives twice.) The first 35-40 itchy bug bumps caused mom to have a severe 'lergic reaction and she went to the human E.R. Now everyone (and I do mean EVERYONE is keeping a close watch on things. This past week she saw a skin doctor named Derma Tologist, and in 10 days she starts being tested for allergies. She says she looks like she has had a severe case of chicken pocks. Anyway, she's healing and not so itchy now. We hope all our friends and yet to be friends are all doing well. Love, Beau

Thrree Dogs and a Blurpy

We recently got 3 new neighbors in the building we live in...one downstairs, one upstairs, and one next door. Life has not been the same, or as quiet ever since. First of all, the downstairs humans, like I've said, have 2 yappy puppies that talk ALL...THE...TIME. Second, the upstairs humans not only have a yappy, hyper chihuaha woofie, but 4 days ago they got a blurpy girl. Mom says so far she's very quiet and cute...but we know that won't last! And, next door humans is just plain loud and waits until late night to be the loudest. So, that's 3 noisy woofies, a blurpy, and a loud human. (Good thing another long time neighbor got kittens Spike and Butch.) Someone needs to tell new humans that cats sleep about 18 hours and I need my beauty rest, so SHUT up...and give all 3 woofies catnip so they will mellow out! I need mom to find me some kitty sized ear plugs or I'm going to scratch someone's eyes out! I get cranky without sleep! Love, Beau
